btvs initial thoughts

pantomimesa few days ago i (finally) decided to start watching buffy. now that i'm done with the first season i'd like to write down my thoughts about the show so far. let's get into it!
⋆ ON THE SHOW
as someone who's been in fandom for more than a decade, i've obviously heard about buffy a million times—i just never expected it to be so fun! i'm not sure why i didn't watch it when i was younger (probably something to do with the length of the show) but recently i was reaaaally craving for something longer and completed to get obsessed with, and buffy seemed like the perfect choice.
actually, the thing that convinced me to give btvs a chance was the movie i saw the tv glow (2024). a lot of people said the movie's fictional show "the pink opaque" is similar to buffy and i have to say they were definitely onto something with this comparison.
i'm also aware of faith/buffy and willow/tara and being the himejoshi i am i had to check it for myself. i'm not there yet (from what i've seen faith only shows up during season 3 and tara during season 4), but i'm so ready to be destroyed by both of these tragic ass ships.
anyways, extremely unserious show with the most unserious storylines but i mean that in a positive way. very easy to watch so far and genuinely so entertaining. FUCK JOSS WHEDON THOUGH I HOPE HE HAS AN AWFUL FUCKING DAY.

⋆ ON THE CHARACTERS
🏹 buffy: our main girlie! i really really like her, she's such an interesting main character to me but at the same time my heart hurts everytime i look at her because, like. it's season one and i'm pretty sure the world is going to be awful and cruel to you going forward and i'm not emotionally prepared to see you crumbling.
🖥️ willow: *EXPLODES INTO A MILLION HEART CONFETTI* my favorite character so far. she's so so so so so cute you guys i am losing it. she was such a positive surprise for me, as in i thought i would have to wait for faith to show up to eventually have a favorite character, but willow got me by the throat. not to mention that i accidentally found out she becomes a witch and um. i'm never normal about witches. so maybe she WILL remain my favorite character for the rest of the show.
👑 cordelia: this diva... she is so insufferable but she's also so funny that you can't help but to get attached to her as the show goes on. not to mention that she is ALWAYS the target of these crazy monsters like give my girl a break omg.
🖱️ ms. calendar: please don't die. please do not fucking die you're so sexy hahaha
📜 giles: my actual dad. i sure hope they don't turn him into some weirdo
🖕 xander: he should fucking die
🖕 angel: he should, also, fucking die
that's all so far! now i'll go back to disney plus and devour season 2 <3
