Taeyeon is sitting in the middle of Kibum’s living room when her phone starts vibrating inside her pocket.

Tiffany [08:35 PM]
Hey!!! Look at this!!!
anantara.com/en/riverside-bangkok
Pretty isn’t it?

Taeyeon closes her eyes and sighs. She knows what this means, and she knows that, this time, she won’t be able to say no—doesn’t have to heart so say sorry, I’m busy with work, let’s try to meet another day for the tenth time in a row.

Tiffany deserves better than this. It’s not her fault that—

“What? What is it?” Kibum points to Taeyeon’s phone, stretching his neck to catch a glimpse of the message. Taeyeon lets him, lacking the strength to lock her screen and push him away. Kibum frowns as he reads, shooting Taeyeon a sympathetic look once he’s done. “Oh, girl.”

Taeyeon rests her head on Kibum’s shoulder and stays there for a while, contemplating about what she should do next, about what she should say to Tiffany—beautiful, kind, patient Tiffany who just wants to spend some time with her, as they often did before she moved back to the U.S.

Before Taeyeon had to deal with some uncomfortable truths.

“Are you going to reply or not?” Kibum speaks up after minutes of silence between them, nudging Taeyeon’s ribs with his elbow.

“What should I do,” Taeyeon runs her fingers through her hair. “God, what should I do.

“I’m sure you know the answer already,” Kibum gives Taeyeon’s shoulder an encouraging squeeze. “Just do it.”

secretly, without anyone knowing
Taeyeon nearly dies the first time it happens.

She's in the passenger seat of the car, dozing off while her manager drives her to her last schedule of the day, when her phone starts beeping inside her bag.

She considers ignoring it, assuming it's Kibum sending her stupid memes he found on Instagram as usual, but the annoying sound keeps reaching Taeyeon's ears and, by extension, her manager's. Worried that the sound might be disruptive enough to cause an actual accident, Taeyeon unzips her bag and grabs her phone.

블랙티 🖤 sent you 10 new messages.

Taeyeon frowns. She has no idea why Tiffany would be sending her this many messages when it's not even eight in the morning in the U.S yet. Her girlfriend would usually start spamming her around lunch, when she'd spend at least an hour sending her countless links of pet clothes and rambling about how cute they'd look on Zero.

Fear starts taking over Taeyeon's senses, hands shaking at the mere thought of something bad happening to her girlfriend and—

Her phone slips from her grasp the second she unlocks her screen.

“Fuck,” Taeyeon curses under her breath, picking up the device from the floor and shoving it back inside her bag.

Her manager side-eyes her, asks if she's okay, to which she answers with a nod and a tight-lipped smile. Which is far from the truth because, fuck, she's not okay. She's far from okay. Actually, she thinks she might faint any minute now.

meet me in the afterglow
“Unnie,” Soobin starts tentatively, hands sliding under her own thighs. “Do you like me?”

Hyunjung doesn’t look up from her book, nor does she flinch at the question. She finds the situation kind of silly, actually. Hasn’t she made it obvious, like, a thousand times throughout the years they’ve known each other?

From the second they got over their initial awkwardness towards each other, Hyunjung has stuck to Soobin’s side like a lifeline—patient, unwavering, quietly planting seeds of affection with each action and word, hoping one day they would bloom and turn into a beautiful, endless garden.

“I do,” Hyunjung fixes her glasses with the tip of her finger, flips a page of the book she’s been engrossed in for hours. “Of course I do.”

“No,” Soobin huffs, growing impatient. Hyunjung doesn’t have to look at her to know her cheeks are red and puffed, as they usually are when she’s either embarrassed or annoyed. She’s probably going through a weird mix of both right now, given the situation. “Do you like me like that?

“Yes,” Hyunjung removes her glasses, bookmarks the page she was in, and leaves the novel on the nightstand before she turns to face Soobin. “Unnie likes you like that.

Silence falls between them. Soobin switches her gaze from Hyunjung’s face to the door, then to the floor, then to the abandoned cup of coffee over the computer table. Hyunjung keeps staring at her, lips curling up at the scene. A flustered Park Soobin is always a sight to see, for sure.

Soobin frowns, chews on her lower lip, seeming deep in thought. Then, still staring everywhere but Hyunjung, she asks meekly, “What now?”

“What do you mean, what now?

“God, you’re so frustrating!” Soobin exclaims, runs her fingers through her hair. She gets up from the couch and starts pacing back and forth, muttering nonsense under her breath. Hyunjung worries Soobin might accidentally dig a hole in her bedroom floor with the strength she’s putting in each step. “You like me. You like like me.”

“Do I have to say it again?” Hyunjung chuckles, shakes her head in disbelief. “I do like you. I like you a lot, Soobin-ah—”

“Stop—just stop!” Soobin squeaks, hands resting on each side of her cheeks. Hyunjung can see how flushed her skin is even with Soobin’s useless attempt to hide it. She keeps it to herself, though—Soobin might choke her to death if she dares to comment on it. “I just—I’m going home. See you later.”

“Wait, wait—” Hyunjung jumps out of her bed, grabs Soobin’s wrist before she can get to the knob. “It’s late. Stay over.”

Soobin swats Hyunjung’s hands away as if she’s been electrocuted, eyes all big and panic-stricken. Okay, Hyunjung thinks as she begrudgingly releases Soobin from her hold, now I’m a bit hurt.

Soobin slips out of Hyunjung’s bedroom without uttering another word, leaving Hyunjung bruised, anxious and confused.

“What the hell just happened,” Hyunjung mutters, rushing to grab her phone and type a message to the one person she knows will be, without a doubt, there for her.

“You did what now?” Juyeon asks, eyes threatening to jump out of her skull as she leaves the bread bag over the kitchen table, throwing herself in the empty spot on the couch next to Hyunjung.

“I told Soobin I like her,” Hyunjung repeats, firmer this time. “Then she ran away.”

Juyeon pinches the bridge of her nose, body sinking further into the couch. “Out of nowhere?”

“She asked me,” Hyunjung explains, uneasy. “And I said yes, then—”

“No, no” Juyeon shakes her head and puts a hand up to get Hyunjung to stop talking. Hyunjung complies, blinks a few times. “Tell me exactly how it went down.”

“She came over this afternoon,” Hyunjung starts, making herself more comfortable on the couch and letting her eyes wander through the expansion of her living room ceiling. “We spent time as we usually do, each of us doing our own stuff, talking every once in a while. She was on her phone while I was reading a book in bed when she asked me if I liked her, and I said yes, because I do like her. Everyone knows. I thought she knew, too.”

“Unnie,” Juyeon facepalms, exasperated. “This is Park Soobin we’re talking about. She’s probably mad because you said it so, well—so carelessly. No effort, nothing. Did you even stop reading before you said it?”

Fuck, Hyunjung laments internally, throws one arm over her face. “No?”

“And you’re still wondering why she left?” Juyeon scoffs, irritation and disbelief written all over her face. “Soobin unnie loves attention. Your attention, especially. She was probably waiting for you to, I don’t know, kneel in front of her and confess your undying love for her in a million different ways.”

Hyunjung pauses at that, frown forming on her forehead as she processes Juyeon’s words. It didn’t feel careless to Hyunjung, it felt… natural. The sky is blue, grass is green and Hyunjung likes Soobin, simple as that.

“You think so?”

“I know so,” Juyeon sighs, expression melting into something softer, understanding. Juyeon is too kind for her own good, sometimes. Hyunjung is lucky to have her. “You have to fix this, unnie.”

“I will, I will,” Hyunjung says, even though she has no idea how she’s supposed to fix the mess she dragged herself into.

Hyunjung is a calm, subtle and reserved person. She was convinced that loving Soobin in her own, tranquil way would eventually lead them to their happily ever after, but it turns out that’s not the case. It never occurred to her that, after years of dancing around their feelings and hundreds of displays of devotion—some of them public, in front of their fans and friends, much to the rest of the members’ chagrins—Soobin could be expecting the refined, drama type of confession.

It’s a lot to take in.

“It will be fine, unnie,” Juyeon offers Hyunjung a reassuring smile. “Just don't waste time, okay?”

“It’s time to get up. Come on, Yeonjung-ah.”

“Don’t want to,” Yeonjung whines, pulls the covers over her head. “Leave me alone.”

Yeoreum sighs, drags her hands through her face and groans in frustration. She knew waking Yeonjung up after the two of them stayed up watching movies until three in the morning would be hell, but she gave in to Yeonjung’s request anyway.

Why? Because Yeoreum missed her, terribly so, although she’ll never admit it out loud. Yeonjung would brag about it for months and Yeoreum refuses to give her a reason to tease her for as long as she lives. So she bites her tongue, swallows the words, and decides to show Yeonjung affection in other ways.

Which she kind of regrets now, considering the fact that it’s almost ten and they still have to prepare a cake for Hyunjung before they go to surprise her during music video shooting.

So much for being a fool for Yoo Yeonjung.

“I won’t cook for you anymore,” Yeoreum warns, pokes Yeonjung’s sides over the blanket, laughing quietly behind her fist when Yeonjung tries to slap it away, hands getting tangled in the fabric instead. “I mean it.”

“You wouldn’t dare,” Yeonjung says through a yawn, then pokes her head out. She looks adorable like this, face void of any makeup, eyes soft and puffy. Yeoreum wants to throw herself on top of her and stay there for the rest of the day. “Hi.”

“Hi,” Yeoreum smiles, tugs at the covers, and Yeonjung lets her pull them out of her without complaining this time. “Ready?”

“No,” Yeonjung deadpans, throws an arm over her eyes. “Can’t we just buy her a cake instead?”

Yeoreum rolls her eyes. “Of course not. But fine, keep sleeping if you don’t want to help, i’ll tell Hyunjung unnie you’re not coming anymore and—”

“Fine, fine!” Yeonjung pouts, throwing a glare at Yeoreum once she opens her eyes again. She looks as intimidating as a wet puppy.

“Get your ass up, then!” Yeoreum nags before she steps out of the bedroom, cackling when she hears Yeonjung cursing and telling her to stop treating her as if she’s a spoiled child.
This is bound to be an eventful morning, for sure.

It takes around twenty minutes for Yeonjung to join Yeoreum in the kitchen. She’s wearing an oversized blue hoodie, leggings, fluffy brown slippers and her hair is half up, half down. Yeoreum swoons at the sight, wishes she could wrap her arms around her waist and kiss her stupid until their lungs are about to burst.

She can’t, though, so she settles for a smile and motions for her to come closer, proudly showing off all the different sorts of ingredients and cooking supplies she bought for them to bake together.

Yeonjung looks both amused and confused, picking up a few of Yeoreum’s special spoons and bringing them closer to her face to analyze their shapes. Yeoreum giggles at the scene, aware that Yeonjung has no idea what any of them are meant for. “Always prepared, aren’t you?”

“It’s not like I can count on you to remember shit,” Yeoreum blurts out, and before she can keep teasing Yeonjung over how terrible her attention span is, she’s yelping in pain from the strength of Yeonjung’s hand hitting her arm. She scoffs, offended, and slaps her back. It infuriates her how Yeonjung doesn’t budge, standing there as if she’s been hit by a leaf and not by the hand of an adult woman. “What the fuck, Yeonjung! That hurted.”

“Don’t make fun of me and I won’t hit you,” Yeonjung warns, pointing one of the spoons in Yeoreum’s direction. “Simple as that.”

“Whatever,” Yeoreum huffs and decides to let go. Mostly because she knows she can’t stay mad at Yeonjung for too long, but also because they need to get this cake done for once and for all. “Put on your apron.”

Yeoreum puts her hair up in a bun, grabs her apron from where it lays over one of the kitchen chairs and puts it on, dusting it off as she makes sure it’s covering her clothes properly. Last week she forgot to bring hers and the result was Im Dayoung stumbling and pouring a whole glass of milk over one of her favorite shirts.

Yeoreum has learnt her lesson and will not go through that again, thank you very much.

When Yeoreum turns around, Yeonjung is standing in the same place, waving her obnoxiously pink apron around like a flag. Yeoreum lets out a frustrated huff at the sight, pinches the tip of her nose in order to calm herself down.

“What are you doing.”

“Yeoreum-ah,” Yeonjung calls in lieu of an answer, voice a tone higher, batting her eyelashes. “Put it on me.”

The worst—and most humiliating—part of the whole ordeal is that Yeoreum does find the scene cute. Very cute. There’s a lot of annoying things Yeonjung does that are cute in Yeoreum’s eyes, unfortunately. It turns out that being infatuated with someone does make you stupid. Dayoung was right every single time she told her so.

“Fine,” Yeoreum takes the apron from Yeonjung’s hand and stands behind her, putting it on as if being this close to her neck isn’t killing her inside. Yeonjung smells so good it should be a crime. For a second, Yeoreum considers throwing caution to the wind and placing a kiss on her soft, inviting skin. Maybe even turning her around, pressing her against the kitchen sink and—

“Your hands are shaking,” Yeonjung points out, bringing Yeoreum back to planet earth. Yeoreum can hear the grin in her voice, dangerous and vicious, and braces herself for whatever Yeonjung is about to spill out. “You like me that much?”

Yeoreum pushes Yeonjung away as if she’s been burnt and shoots her a glare, feeling a bit silly for acting like she said something absurd. She’s didn’t. Yeonjung’s never been more correct in her whole life. It’s embarrassing, really, how much Yeoreum likes her.

“Stop talking nonsense and get to work,” Yeoreum tries to scold her, but it comes out weak and weird, lacking bite.

Yeonjung laughs out loud, one hand over her chest, head tilting back. Butterflies fly wildly inside Yeoreum’s stomach, and she starts wondering if it’s possible that she’s falling in love with Yoo Yeonjung all over again.

“Yes, captain.”

“This is not what we planned last night.”

“What are you talking about? Of course it is.”

“No it’s not!” Yeoreum growls, cleaning her hands on her apron before she grabs her phone, handing it over to Yeonjung. “Look.”

Yeonjung takes Yeoreum’s phone, narrowing her eyes as she analyzes the picture for a while. Then, with a bashful smile on her face, she mutters, “I’m sorry, Yeoreum-ah. I won’t doubt you again.”

“You always say that,” Yeoreum sighs, patting Yeonjung’s shoulders when she sees the—adorable, she might add—pout on her lips. “Stop sulking like a baby, it’s okay.”

“I’m always making things harder for you,” Yeonjung says, and Yeoreum is ready to comfort her, but the gloomy look turns into a devilish smile in the blink of an eye. Uh oh. “Good thing you like me, right?”

Yeoreum scoffs, mouth opening and closing a hundred times as she tries to come up with a mean answer to that, something that will make her seem less like a deer caught in headlights, but unfortunately she’s too soft and too head-over-heels and not at all sharp like the leos of the group, so she bites her tongue, takes a deep breath, and says, “I don’t know where you got that idea.”

“Oh, you want me to give you a list? Alright—”

“No I do not—”

“Remember when I was sick and you canceled all your schedules to stay in the dorm with me—”

“I do that for everyone—”

“And you cooked me all of my favorite foods—”

“That too!”

“And stayed in bed with me the whole day, played with my hair to make me feel better and held me when I couldn’t sleep?”

Fuck, Yeoreum thinks, face burning hot even though it’s the middle of winter.

it's all i know
“You,” Yeonjung hisses, removes her mask and shakes her head in an attempt to fix her hair. It’s useless, considering they’re on the rooftop of the tallest building in Seoul right now, wind always cold and unforgiving when you’re this high.

“Me,” Jiyeon sings, not at all bothered by Yeonjung’s disdain for her presence. Her nonchalance only serves to make Yeonjung even more annoyed. “It’s been a long time, Yeonjung-ah.”

“Not long enough,” Yeonjung spits out, mean and sharp. “Why are you back? And why did you look for me?”

“Slow down,” Jiyeon sits at the edge of the building, patting the empty space near her. When Yeonjung refuses to move, she continues, “I missed you. That’s why I’m back.”

Yeonjung scoffs, not believing Jiyeon had the audacity to utter those words. She’s been busy the whole day, relentlessly chasing after clues that would lead her to whatever was causing such a ruckus in the city, only for the culprit to be Kim Jiyeon. Fucking Kim Jiyeon, out of all people.

Last Yeonjung heard, Jiyeon was in Paris screwing some other girl. It was none of her business, but still. It would’ve been nice to have learnt Jiyeon left for another country from Jiyeon herself, not from an apologetic, careful Sojung after a mission debrief.

“Oh, you missed me?” Yeonjung barks through a bitter laugh and the lump forming inside her throat. She’s not one to be overly emotional, but she hasn’t had a second of peace today and she’s exhausted, muscles and bones worn out. All thanks to the woman standing in front of her, acting like this isn’t a big deal. “That’s why you left without saying a fucking word?”

Jiyeon pauses at that, frown visible on her forehead. She’s struggling to come up with something to say, Yeonjung can tell by the way her mouth opens and closes multiple times before she sighs, getting up so she can face Yeonjung properly. Now that they’re standing closer, Yeonjung can see a bruise on her lips and a cut on her cheek. Her hand is patched up, too. Yeonjung almost feels bad for her. Almost.

“I didn’t really know how to say goodbye to you,” Jiyeon confesses, each word dripping with uncharacteristic honesty, fiery gaze burning every inch of Yeonjung’s skin.

All that sincerity is disarming, really—big brown eyes studying her every move, drinking her in, eager for an answer. Yeonjung isn't used to it, not when it comes to Jiyeon.

She refuses to give her what she's silently asking for, though. Kim Jiyeon might be one hell of a sight to see with her dark hair flying against the wind, god-like face sparkling underneath neon lights, but Yeonjung is still hurt.

Hurt enough to not drag Jiyeon to her bedroom and fuck her until she's a panting, whiny mess underneath her, as it usually happens.

“Learn how to be a decent person first, then feel free to try again,” Yeonjung deadpans, hooks a wire around one of the light poles and positions herself on the edge of the building, making sure the equipment is rightfully stuck to her belt before she looks up at Jiyeon one last time. “You better fix all the shit you did today. Terrible way to grab my attention, don't do it again.”

listen to the universe, you may find an answer
“There’s something I need to tell you.”

Hyunjung takes a step closer to Sojung, then another, then one more until their faces are only a few centimeters apart. Sojung notices that Hyunjung’s hands are shaking and feels the familiar urge to reach out and hold them in between hers, but decides against it.

Then the phrase that would haunt Sojung’s every waking thought finally slipped out of Hyunjung’s mouth, carving a dagger into her chest that would leave her bleeding for weeks.

“I love you, Sojung,” Hyunjung confesses, and Sojung's world ends. “I always have.”

It’s three in the morning and Sojung is getting ready to fly herself to a whole other decade.

Two weeks ago, the team dropped Yeoreum and Yeonjung in 1963 for a mission in Paris on their own. The visit was supposed to be simple and fast—their goal was to chat with a few students from Sorbonne University, gather some intel about the place, and then contact the team once they were done. But then a week passed, then another one, and the radio silence can only mean one thing: trouble.

Sojung didn’t think twice before owning up to her captain role and taking it upon herself to rescue the two of them. Mostly because the rest of the team can’t afford to get distracted about something else when a time anomaly back in 2014 is threatening to turn the entire universe upside down, but it’s also because she’s been grabbing onto any chance to be alone in the Waverider like a lifeline, no matter how dangerous said chance might be.

She wrote a quick note to the others, letting them know where she’s going and that Jiyeon is in charge until she returns, sticking it to the bedroom door of the house they were staying in for the time being before she finally leaves, backpack hanging over her shoulders.

Sojung rushes to the backyard, uncloaks the Waverider, activates the password and enters the ship, leaving her belongings over one of the seats before she turns around—and it’s only then that, to her terror, Sojung realizes that she’s not alone.

“What are you doing here?”

Sojung despises how mean she sounds as soon as the words slip out of her mouth. Hyunjung doesn’t deserve this. She doesn't deserve to be in love with someone like her. She doesn’t, she doesn’t—

“I’m not letting you go to 1963 alone,” Hyunjung explains, calm and collected, as if the reason was obvious and there was nothing weird about this situation. As if nothing changed. “I’ll come with you.”

if i write it, does it matter?
Dahyun steps into Sohyun’s life in the middle of the harshest winter she’s ever faced.

She dropped out of college, her parents kicked her out of their house as retaliation, and to make the whole situation all the more depressing, every single demo she sent to music labels and radio stations were promptly ignored, not even worthy of receiving a single this sucks and we want nothing to do with it as an answer.

Then enters Dahyun, holding the shitty flyer that Nakyoung made in five minutes in her hands, a shy yet determined glow in her eyes as she says, “I’d like to audition for the lead singer spot.”

The sun is here, Sohyun thinks, dumbfounded, unable to form a coherent sentence as Nakyoung and Kotone welcome Dahyun in. God, it’s finally here.

It’s easy, working with Dahyun.

She’s punctual, isn’t afraid to voice out her opinions and, Jesus, Sohyun swears she’s never heard anything quite as breathtaking as her voice in her entire life. Even if Dahyun, in some twisted alternative universe, ended up being the most stuck-up, annoying brat she’s ever met in her life, Sohyun thinks she’d still choose to keep her around for sounding as heavenly as she does.

Thankfully, Dahyun is none of those things. Quite the opposite, Sohyun learns as time goes on and their relationship advances from co-workers, to friends, then to really close friends, then to—

“Unnie,” Dahyun asks, fidgets with the hem of her—Sohyun’s—old sweater. Sohyun hums in lieu of an answer, still staring at the computer in front of her, reading through the emails she received from the multiple music executives she contacted the past week with a frown on her face. “Are you seeing anyone?”

Sohyun freezes. Those four words wipe all the apologies from rich men she was previously reading through from her brain.

Sohyun spins around in her chair, taking in Dahyun’s appearance. Sohyun loves how it looks on her, hates that she can’t pull them off of Dahyun’s body herself. “I’m… not?”

Dahyun’s shoulders relax, her gaze softens. Sohyun tries not to delve too much into what that could mean. “You’d tell me—us, if you were, right?”

“Of course,” Sohyun reassures her with a gentle curl of her lips. Dahyun flashes Sohyun a smile of her own, too, and for a brief second they’re stuck in their own little world, until—

“Look! Look!”

Dahyun nearly drops from the couch in reaction to Kotone’s abrupt entrance, and Sohyun would ask her if she was alright, but Nakyoung comes in next, looking as excited as Kotone, and Sohyun figures she should finally give them her full attention.

Seoul Band Festival, reads the words in the paper Kotone is practically shoving into their faces. Sohyun blinks once, twice, then takes the pamphlet being held out to her, reading carefully through all the conditions to sign up for the festival and—

“This is crazy.”

Kotone nods enthusiastically. “Good type of crazy, right?”

“Yeah, too good,” Sohyun laughs in disbelief. She turns to Nakyoung who’s just as enthusiastic as Kotone, then to Dahyun, and all the air is knocked out of her lungs at the sight in front of her.

Seo Dahyun, all teary-eyed, still staring at the announcement as if she’s waiting for the words to change, to make it impossible for them to join the most prestigious festival in the country. Seo Dahyun, meeting her gaze, biting her lower lip to contain a smile that ends up blooming anyway, sparkling with nothing but hope.
Sohyun decides, right then and there, that they’re winning this thing. Hell, she’d give her own life in a heartbeat if it meant Dahyun would keep smiling at her like that.

As soon as the conversation dies down and they start to leave the studio one by one, Sohyun flops back into her chair and allows her heart to guide her art for the rest of the night.

The next weeks pass by in a blur.

They spend most—if not all—of their free time in Sohyun’s tiny, cramped-up studio, devoting themselves to their craft. The four of them come up with a bunch of songs—some okay, some good, some straight-up awful and a handful of masterpieces that are worth of being sung by thousands of people in a sold-out stadium—and the more they rehearse, the more hope seems to sink deep into their bones, spreading through their veins and creating an euphoric atmosphere whenever they were together.

And Dahyun, well—she’s still the center of Sohyun’s universe, pulling her into her orbit effortlessly. Sohyun’s too weak to fight against it, takes whatever Dahyun hands her without complaints.

It’s foolish, really. Sohyun knows that. So does Nakyoung and Kotone, because not only have they known Sohyun like the back of their hands for years, they’re also not stupid.

There’s a faint knock on the door before it opens, revealing a fresh out the shower Dahyun, wearing a loose pink t-shirt with droplets of water still sticking to her exposed collarbones. Sohyun bites the tip of her own tongue, tries not to stare too much.

“Hi,” Dahyun says, wraps her arms around Sohyun’s shoulders from behind, and Sohyun has to try her best not to get up from her chair and bury her face into Dahyun’s neck. “You called?”

“Mhm,” Sohyun nods, clears her throat in a foolish attempt to hide how flustered she is. “I came up with a song for the festival. Wanna give it a listen?”

Dahyun gives Sohyun’s shoulders one last squeeze before she untangles herself and sits on the empty chair next to her. “Who am I to say no to a Park Sohyun original?”

Sohyun scratches her nape and looks down, hopes Dahyun can’t see the faint hint of red spreading through her cheeks. Dahyun is a compliment machine, has been since day one, but Sohyun still hasn’t figured out how to take them without feeling as if there are thousands of butterflies soaring inside her stomach.

Without saying another word, Sohyun pressed play in the demo she recorded earlier, and leaned back on her chair as she studied each and every single one of Dahyun’s reactions to her song.

Sohyun can feel her ears burning up, and she isn’t quite sure of what to do with her trembling hands, but she refuses to tear her eyes away, eager to drink all of Dahyun in.

When the song ends, Dahyun remains silent. Her eyes keep darting between Sohyun and the computer screen, hands resting over the headphones in her head, unsure if she should take them off or not.

The lack of an immediate reaction makes Sohyun antsy. She isn’t sure what to say or do, doubts she’d be able to survive if Dahyun gave her a negative feedback, which she usually wouldn’t be hurt by, but this song, it’s just—it’s all about—

“Unnie,” Dahyun breathes out, licks her own lips while staring right at Sohyun’s, then continues, “this song is about me, isn’t it?”

“Yeonjung-ah,” Jiyeon mewls, head thrown back against the cold tiles, nails scratching lightly at Yeonjung’s scalp. “You’re so good to me. So, so good.”

Yeonjung, on her knees in front of Jiyeon, lets out a pleased hum, too busy leaving kisses all over Jiyeon’s thighs to come up with a proper answer. She loves when Jiyeon is like this, sitting on her kitchen countertop, drunk on her touches, showering her with all sorts of praises.

Yeonjung looks up for a second and the sight of a disheveled, sweaty Jiyeon sprawled in front of her makes her heart skip a beat or two. It’s been a little over a month since they’ve gotten together, much longer since they started hooking up, and she still hasn’t gotten used to this—having Kim Jiyeon all to herself, even if only behind closed doors.

She loves to tease Jiyeon, to push her to her limits until she’s whining and begging for something, anything, but she decides against it tonight. She craved for her girlfriend the whole day, mostly due to not-so-innocent pictures Jiyeon decided to send her while she was in the middle of an important class, and she can’t wait anymore.

She needs to taste Jiyeon, and she needs to do it now.

So she leaves one last kiss on the inside of Jiyeon’s thigh, wraps her fingers around the waistband of Jiyeon’s panties, starts pulling the fabric down and—

Jiyeon’s phone starts ringing. Loud and annoying and incessantly.

Yeonjung groans, head dropping in defeat over Jiyeon’s thigh, because she already knows what it means—Jiyeon has to leave.

Jiyeon coughs a few times to clear her throat, adjusts her tone, then talks to Sojung—one of her classmates—as if she wasn’t about to get eaten out a second ago. Yeonjung remains in the same place, motionless and frustrated as she listens to the quick exchange.

“Your classmates hate me,” Yeonjung grunts as soon as the call comes to an end. “This happens all the time. It’s like they can sense we’re about to fuck or something.”

“They must hate me too, then. I was really looking forward to spending some time with you,” Jiyeon laments and pats Yeonjung’s head, putting a few loose strands behind her ear. “I miss you.”

Yeonjung lifts her head up, pouting as she admits, “I miss you too.”

“Come here,” Jiyeon beckons her closer with a finger and Yeonjung readily obeys the command, hands resting on each side of Jiyeon’s body, their faces mere centimeters apart. “I’m all yours tomorrow, okay? I’ll make sure there are no interruptions. Just me, you, and nothing else.”

Yeonjung sinks her teeth into her lower lip, butterflies going wild inside her stomach at the mere thought of spending the whole day with her girlfriend. “Promise?”

“I promise.” Jiyeon smiles, pressing multiple kisses over Yeonjung’s cheeks, neck and collarbones, leaving one last peck over her lips before she pulls away. “Now I need a shower.”

Yeonjung bats her eyelashes innocently. “Can I join?”

“It’s just a shower,” Jiyeon warns, trying to sound stern, but Yeonjung’s wounded expression manages to pull a giggle out of her.

“Unnie,” Yeonjung puts a hand over her chest, feigning offense, “When have I ever turned a simple shower into something else?”

“Let me see,” Jiyeon scratches her chin for a moment, pretends to count on her fingers, “A million times?”

“Lies,” Yeonjung protests as she helps Jiyeon come down from the countertop, kissing her shoulder before she trails behind her, “All you do is lie.”

After taking a quick shower and saying goodbye with a kiss that almost has Jiyeon canceling all of her plans, Yeonjung decides to spend the rest of the night at Luda’s apartment.

Luda lives in the building right next to Yeonjung’s, so it doesn’t take more than five minutes before Yeonjung is knocking at her door, a bag with alcohol and snacks hanging from her arm. After multiple knocks, messages and an audio message from Yeonjung that says I’m going to kill you if you don’t get your ass up and open this fucking door, the knob finally turns, revealing an annoyed Lee Luda already in her pajamas, headset draped around her neck.

“Be kinder to me, you brat,” Luda says in lieu of a greeting as she steps aside for Yeonjung to come in. “I’m still older than you.”
“What was I supposed to do, freeze to death outside?” Yeonjung rolls her eyes, leaves the bag over Luda’s coffee table. “What are you playing, anyway?”

“Overwatch,” Luda yawns, removes the headset and leaves it over a chair. “I’m bored, though. No decent opponents for five rounds straight.”

“Where’s your girlfriend?” Yeonjung passes Luda a can of beer, throwing herself over Luda’s couch as if she owns the place. Luda, more than used to Yeonjung’s antics by now, doesn’t bat an eye. “Didn’t you say she was almost as good as you?”

“Dawonie? She’s at some dance club emergency meeting,” Luda sighs, takes a sip of the alcohol in her hands. “They have these all the time, it’s so annoying.”

Oh, so Dawon is there too, Yeonjung thinks, hums as she processes the information. At least I’m not the only one being affected by these stupid dance club reunions.

“Jiyeon unnie is there too,” Yeonjung grumbles, and since Luda is the only person that already knows about their relationship, she continues, “I’m so annoyed. She teased me the whole day and I was so close to finally eating her o—”

“Okay, okay, stop,” Luda closes her eyes, shakes her head and blocks her ears. “I don’t need to know what you two do when you’re alone. Gross.”

Yeonjung scoffs, feeling genuinely affronted when she protests, “You’ve told me worse!”

“I’m older than you.”

“Stop using the older card!”

“Never, brat—”

“I’m not a brat—”

“You know damn well you are—”

“If I’m a brat, then you’re the antichrist—”

Their bickering session gets interrupted by Luda’s phone, some Troye Sivan song Yeonjung can’t remember the title that Dawon chose for Luda because, according to her, it’s the perfect summary of their relationship blasts through the living room and snaps them out of their insult battle.

You’re so gay, Yeonjung remembers telling Luda when she told her the story behind her ringtone choice. Shut the fuck up, Luda answered, ever the sweet talker.

“Hi, Dawonie,” Luda says as she picks up, ignoring Yeonjung pretending to gag from the other side of the couch. “Mhm. No, I’m not busy. Yeonjungie is here. Okay. I’ll be waiting.”

“What is it?”

“She wants to make a video call,” Luda says, and soon enough her phone is ringing again.

“Unnie!” Yeonjung calls as she bursts through the door of Sojung’s studio, not even bothering to knock first. She sounds excited, the happiest Sojung has seen her all week. “I heard you got your driver's license. Is it true?”

“Yup,” Sojung smirks, grabs the key sitting beside her empty coffee cup and twirls it on her finger to show off. “The rumors are true.”

“And you already have a car?” Yeonjung asks, eyes shining with hope. Her smile grows once Sojung confirms with a nod, and she doesn’t think twice before she’s throwing herself on Sojung’s lap, nearly breaking the new computer chair Sojung bought last week in the process. “You can finally take me on a road trip, then.”

Sojung raises an eyebrow, resting both hands on Yeonjung’s waist to steady her and make sure she doesn’t fall off. “A road trip?”

Yeonjung nods, wrapping her arms around Sojung’s shoulders. Sojung bites the inside of her cheek, trying not to think too much about how she can feel Yeonjung’s breath on her cheek or how close their faces are. “Just you and me. Seoul to Busan. What do you say?”

“That’s only four hours, though,” Sojung reasons. “Hardly an actual road trip.”

Yeonjung rolls her eyes, shoves Sojung’s arm lightly. “What were you expecting me to suggest, a road trip to Europe? I’m a busy woman, unnie.”

“Fine,” Sojung deflates, pouts, and caresses her own arm. “Busan sounds good.”

Busan does sound good. Too good, actually. The thought of spending some time in her hometown, far away from the company, leaving behind the weight of being the top rapper of the country and the overwhelming mess that is Seoul, with Yeonjung of all people by her side sounds like heaven to Sojung.

Yeonjung nods enthusiastically and presses a kiss on Sojung’s cheek before she gets up, making her way towards the door. Yeonjung waves before she disappears into the corridor. Sojung pretends she doesn’t miss her the second she leaves.

Sojung gets home after sending Dawon a few demos and spending an entire hour in a reunion that could have been replaced by a simple email. I’ll need at least two days off, Sojung explained, knowing exactly what would follow—a bunch of questions about the date she was supposed to go with Jiyeon over the weekend. Not a real date, no—only an excuse for them to be seen in public and boost their reputations.

People love their relationship. No, they are obsessed with it. Rapper Chu Sojung and actress Kim Jiyeon breathe next to each other and tweets go viral, thousands of compilations are uploaded to YouTube and their names trend on Naver for days.

If only they knew it was all fake. If only they knew Sojung’s heart sits in the hands of someone else.

Sojung managed to convince them with the promise of posting a picture dump full of pictures of her and Jiyeon with a cheesy caption, which pleased them immensely. Sojung could see the won bills shining in their eyes as they granted her the two days off she requested.

It was kind of a ridiculous situation. It always is. But after years in the industry, she has learnt to accept that that’s the price she has to pay to be able to do what she loves, for the glory, for the fame.

Sojung worked hard for it, for her songs to chart at number one for consecutive weeks, for her face to be on billboards and for her concert tickets to sell-out in mere seconds. She wouldn’t trade it for the world.

That’s what she learnt to tell herself so she can sleep at night, at least.

Sojung stares at the picture of her and Yeonjung she keeps on her nightstand, taken last year, right after Yeonjung’s first concert. The same night she realized she liked her as more than just a hoobae, than a simple friend.

(“You know,” Jiyeon started, leaning closer to her so no one else could hear what she was about to say, “It’s written all over your face. I don’t know if it’s cute or disgusting.”

Sojung doesn’t tear her eyes away from Yeonjung, who’s shining on stage as usual, when she asked, “What is?”

“Don’t be silly,” Jiyeon frowned and slapped Sojung’s arm. Sojung pretended it didn’t happen, though, too enthralled by how effortlessly Yeonjung hits a high note while performing one of her hardest choreographies. “You know exactly what I’m talking about.”)

Sojung is pulled out of her thoughts when her phone vibrates, Yeonjung’s name flashing on her screen. She smiles to herself and unlocks her phone, wasting no time before she types out an answer to Yeonjung’s question.

yeonjungie 🐻09:56 pm
what time are we leaving tomorrow?

me09:56 pm
be ready by six
let’s leave early

yeonjungie 🐻09:57 pm

make sure to look good for me, unnie

me09:57 pm
no one looks good that early in the morning

yeonjungie 🐻09:58 pm
i very much do
and you know that

Sojung has seen Yeonjung during the early hours of the morning enough times to know that the statement is, in fact, true. It’s kind of absurd, really, how good Yeonjung manages to look before the sun is even out.

She might be a little biased, given how much of a fool she is for her, but oh well. There’s nothing she can do about it.

me09:58 pm
yeah yeah
keep telling yourself that

yeonjungie 🐻09:59 pm
you were supposed to agree with me!!!!
i’m upset ㅠ

me09:59 pm
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
good night, yeonjungie~

yeonjungie 🐻09:59 pm
have terrible dreams, unnie

Despite Yeonjung’s mean wishes, Sojung dreams of beaches, clear skies and red hair flying against Busans’s fresh wind.

Sojung is inside her car, ready to drive to Yeonjung’s dorm when her phone starts vibrating inside her pocket.

jiyeon05:45 am
had to find out through my manager that you canceled our date
how could you, chu sojung!!!

Sojung scoffs once she reads the message. Kim Jiyeon is unbelievable sometimes. And by sometimes Sojung means all the time.

me05:46 am
ㅋㅋㅋ
don’t be dramatic
i know you despise those dates

jiyeon05:47 am
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ i do
have fun cheating on me~

The audacity, Sojung thinks as she shakes her head, although the thought of something happening between her and Yeonjung during this little trip makes her feel all sorts of funny.

sojung05:47 am
you’re the one that will cheat on me though? ㅋㅋ
tell dawon i said hi by the way

jiyeon05:47 am
no
i’ll be too busy kissing her

sojung05:48 am
🙄
i really hate you sometimes

jiyeon05:48 am
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
make sure to pay attention to the road!!
don’t get too distracted by yeonjungie’s beauty!!!
if my baby gets hurt because of you you’re a dead woman chu sojung

sojung05:48 am
oh my god…
goodbye jiyeon

Sojung ignores all of Jiyeon’s next messages, shoves her phone back into her pocket and drives away.

“Do I look pretty or not?”

That’s the first thing Yeonjung says when Sojung pulls over. Not a hello, not a did you sleep well, not a simple good morning. Sojung should’ve seen that coming.

Yeonjung makes a dramatic pose, one that makes her look like the main character in a superhero movie, but that does the trick. She does look pretty. Too pretty for Sojung’s own good. Kinda makes her want to give up on this road trip, press Yeonjung against the back of her car and—

“You look gorgeous, Yeonjung-ah,” Sojung says, voice laced with fake sweetness. Yeonjung notices that but takes the compliment anyway, beaming as if she had been announced Best Artist on MAMA. “Can we leave now?”

“Of course,” Yeonjung sing-songs, puts her suitcase in the trunk and slides into the passenger seat.

Yeonjung grabs a chapstick from the pocket of her pink hoodie and applies it to her lips, using her finger to remove the excess that was left in the corner of her mouth. Sojung follows the movement, wetting her own lips in the process.

There are a lot of devastating things about Yoo Yeonjung, Sojung has come to learn against her will, but her mouth is definitely on the top three.

Yeonjung closes the chapstick and turns around, grinning as she states, “You’re staring.”

Sojung forces out a cough, blinks a few times as she grabs the steering wheel with much more strength than she was supposed to. “Put on your seatbelt.”

is it cool that i said all that?
Hyunjung sprawled on her bed, killing time by watching the ten thousand YouTube videos Soobin sent her throughout the week when her phone starts to ring, the name Yeoreumie flashing on her screen.

“Yeoreum-ah,” Hyunjung greets. “What’s up?”

“Hi, unnie, um—” Yeoreum pauses for a second, and Hyunjung swears she can hear Dayoung screaming at someone in the background, then she continues, “I think you should come pick Sojung unnie up.”

Hyunjung pushes herself up into a sitting position, runs her hands through her face to shake the drowsiness out of her system. “What happened? She told me she was going to crash at Yeonjung’s.”

“Yeah, well, you see,” Yeoreum has to pause again, this time she pulls the phone away from her to scream Im Dayoung, could you please not make things worse—yeah, take Sojung unnie to the bedroom, thank you, then she apologizes to Hyunjung and continues, “Yeonjung is kind of the problem. Luda unnie, too.”

Hyunjung grimaces, feels a chill run down her spine. Not a single situation that included the words Yeonjung, Luda and problem has ever ended well for her—or for any of the members of their friend group, really. “What did they do this time.”

Yeoreum sighs and Hyunjung takes it as an opportunity to put the phone on speaker, leaving it over her nightstand so she can listen to the story while she starts to get dressed.

“We were all drinking and talking in peace, but then Yeonjungie and Luda unnie, being the way they are, decided to start—um,” Hyunjung can tell from Yeoreum’s pained tone that she loathes being the one that has to tell her whatever the hell happened between those three. Hyunjung has the feeling that the responsibility fell on her lap because she’s the only person in the room sober enough to do so. “They started to talk about how hot you are to spite Sojung unnie. And because she was drunk out of her ass, it worked.”

Hyunjung has to take a deep breath to stop herself from bursting into laughter, because what the actual fuck did she just hear. “Did she cry?”

“She did cry,” Yeoreum confirms. “She might start crying again any time soon, so please.

“Yeah, of course,” Hyunjung giggles as she fixes her bangs in the mirror. What a ridiculous situation, really. “I’m on my way.”

They say their goodbyes, and as soon as she’s ready Hyunjung is out of the door—coat, tissues and painkillers, all for her hot mess of a girlfriend, safe inside her bag.

“What the fuck did you two do,” Hyunjung says in lieu of a greeting as she steps into Yeonjung’s apartment, the place where their small gathering was happening before it turned into a circus of screams and tears.

“Nothing,” Luda and Yeonjung say in unison, batting their eyelashes and swinging their feet. Hyunjung rolls her eyes at the unbelievable scene.

“You two are going to hell,” she says, ignores how that sentence makes the two of them cackle like actual demons who were forced to live on earth, then turns to Yeoreum, “Sojung. Where is she?”

Yeoreum gestures for Hyunjung to follow her, guiding her to the guest room where they find Dayoung patting a distraught Sojung on the head.

“Thank God,” Dayoung throws her hands up to the sky, not even hesitating before she gets up and leaves Sojung behind. “She’s all yours now, unnie. Good luck.”

“I’ll leave you to it, unnie. I’ll be in the living room if you need anything,” Yeoreum says, sounding a thousand times more kind and considerate than Dayoung—as usual—before she steps out of the bedroom, gently closing the door behind her.

Hyunjung sits beside Sojung on the bed, letting out a huff when Sojung throws herself into her arms and nearly knocks her out of the mattress. Hyunjung caresses Sojung’s hair for a moment before she speaks, “Hello there.”

“Hi,” Sojung says, hiccups, sinks further into Hyunjung’s embrace. “Glad you’re here.”

Hyunjung smiles, running her hands up and down Sojung’s back. “Wanna tell me what happened?”

Sojung whines and shakes her head, sounding an awful lot like she’s about to start bawling her eyes out again. Oh no.

“Okay, okay,” Hyunjung shushes her. “You don’t have to tell me anything right now.”

That seems to do the trick because Sojung relaxes again, the vicious grip she had on Hyunjung’s sweater loosening considerably. Hyunjung sighs, relieved.

“Can you just keep holding me like this?” Sojung asks, small and vulnerable. Hyunjung’s heart melts.

“Of course,” Hyunjung places a kiss on the crown of Sojung’s head. “Anything you want.”

They remain like that for a while—on the bed, in a comfortable silence, pressed against each other as Hyunjung eventually leaves a few kisses on Sojung’s shoulders, cheeks and forehead.

“It’s not just them, it’s—“ Sojung hiccups. “A lot of people! Don’t you know,” she holds Hyunjung’s face between her hands, squeezing it to the point where it’s uncomfortable and sort of painful, but Hyunjung simply allows her to keep doing it, “how gorgeous you are? How many people would kill me in a heartbeat to get a chance with you—”

“I don’t think anyone would actually kill you to date me—”

“Unnie!” Sojung shrieks, shoves Hyunjung’s shoulder. “Don’t interrupt me.”

“Ow, ow,” Hyunjung giggles, then pretends to zip her lips when Sojung scowls. “Okay, sorry. Go on.”

Sojung is not the jealous type, has never been for the five years they’ve been together—so, for her to be acting like this, there might have been some signs Hyunjung missed, some bad days, some repressed doubts. She wants to wipe them all off, wants Sojung to know her heart belongs to her and no one else.

“You won’t leave me for someone else, right?”

“No.”

“Not even for Kim Taeyeon?”

Hyunjung giggles. “Not even Kim Taeyeon. I swear.”

“What if she serenades you with one of her songs—“

“God, shut up.” Hyunjung rolls her eyes, then pulls Sojung into a kiss.

Dear Dawon unnie.

Yeonjung frowns, raises the paper up so she can analyze it. No, too cheesy. It doesn’t feel like her.

Dawon unnie.

Too boring.

Queen of my heart, body and soul.

You can’t Taylor Swift your way out of this one, Yeonjung.

Write, erase, repeat. Write, erase, repeat. Write, erase, repeat—

“Fuck this,” Yeonjung grunts, ripping the nth unfinished letter she wrote that evening into pathetic little pieces before she throws them into the trash can, letting her head drop pitifully against the table as soon as she returns to the chair she’s been sitting on for an entire hour. “I can’t do it. I just can’t.”

Luda, who’s been playing games on her phone while Yeonjung suffers, doesn’t even bother to tear her eyes off her screen as she speaks, “You know, for someone with a shotgun for a mouth and a nuclear bomb for a brain, you suck at putting your feelings into words. The genuine ones, at least.”

Luda has said a lot of insane things regarding Yeonjung’s personality during the five years they’ve known each other, but this one probably takes the cake. Shotgun for a mouth and nuclear bomb for a brain, Yeonjung ponders over the phrase, impressed by Luda’s choice of words. Huh. Sounds about right.

“It’s not that I suck at it,” Yeonjung starts explaining, resting her chin over her closed fist while she uses her free hand to fidget with her pen. “It’s just that— well. It’s Dawon unnie,” Yeonjung’s shoulders deflate and her voice becomes softer as she continues, “It… means a lot to me. That she agrees to go on a date with me, I mean.”

“Like I said, you suck at genuine feelings.”

“Okay, fine, I suck at genuine feelings. You’re right. Is that what you wanted to hear?” Yeonjung grunts, rips another page off her notebook, crumples it and throws it straight into Luda’s forehead. Luda yelps, finally lifting her head up to throw a glare at Yeonjung’s direction. Yeonjung, as usual, is completely unaffected by it. “You’re the one who told me to write her a letter. You should be helping me out instead of playing the same stupid game you’ve been losing sleep over for a week now.”

“You know I suck at genuine feelings as much as you do, maybe even more,” Luda says through a yawn as she gets up from the couch, stretching her limbs once she’s up. “I already gave you a suggestion. There’s nothing else I can do.”

“You could at least stay and offer moral support,” Yeonjung pouts as she watches Luda gather her belongings and put them inside her bag, pacing back and forth around the room to make sure she grabbed everything. Knowing Luda, she probably didn’t.

“I can’t, Sojung unnie asked me to teach the gremlins about my potions tomorrow,” Luda sighs, exhausted at the mere thought of being surrounded by the annoying, loud kids that Sojung teaches for an entire morning. The image of Luda trying to keep it together while children scream and jump around her has Yeonjung suppressing a laugh behind her hands. “And if I don’t get enough sleep I might end up hurting someone. No, not just someone, a whole child. I’d be banned from this city forever.”

“You would,” Yeonjung agrees as she points towards Luda’s wand, forgotten over a cushion. There you are, Luda mutters under her breath, heaving a sigh of relief. “Hunted, even.”

“Yeah, I wouldn’t put it past them to— what the hell is that.

Yeonjung frowns. “What?”

Luda doesn’t have the opportunity to answer, because soon enough Jiyeon and Dayoung stumble through the room, their faces covered in mud while they argue over something Yeonjung can’t quite comprehend. All she knows is that they sound and look ridiculous, as per usual.

They only stop screaming at each other when they notice Luda and Yeonjung staring at them as if they were aberrations. An awkward silence falls between them until Dayoung, always one to act on her impulses to disturb someone’s peace of mind, clears her throat and decides to torment Yeonjung instead.

“What do we have here?” Dayoung sings as she makes Yeonjung’s notebook float in the air, high enough that none of them can catch it, until it’s in her hands. “Dearest Dawon unnie,” Dayoung giggles as she starts reading, her voice an octave lower for dramatic effect. Jiyeon stands behind her, trying to catch a glimpse of the writing over Dayoung’s shoulder. “Would you go on a date with me next week? Love, Yeonjung.”

“This sucks,” Jiyeon laughs out loud like the menace that she is and lets her eyes wander through the other unfinished attempts at a letter scattered throughout the page. “To be honest, all of these suck.”

Luda nods. “I told her it sucks.”

“Can you guys stop?” Yeonjung barks, then with a swift motion of her hand, she manages to take her notebook back and send both Jiyeon and Dayoung crashing against the floor. Yeonjung would make fun of their dumbfounded faces and the fact that they’re looking as if they got hit by a train sprawled all over the wood like that, but the whole situation is starting to get on her nerves.

Like, actually get on her nerves.

So when Dayoung, who clearly didn’t learn her lesson, gets up and resumes her incessant teasing Yoo Yeonjung session, Yeonjung loses it— and by losing it she means that now, instead of sending her to the floor, she leaves her stuck on the ceiling, right next to the fan that is currently spinning at full speed.

Dayoung shrieks, thrashes in the air and begs for mercy, but Yeonjung doesn’t budge, watching her friend struggle with a satisfied— and sort of sadistic— smirk dancing on her lips. Im Dayoung should’ve known better than to piss off the most powerful— and, not to mention, the pettiest— witch in town.

“Okay, okay, I’ll stop making fun of you,” Dayoung cries, trying her best to fly back to the safety of the floor below her, but she’s no match to Yeonjung’s strength. Yeonjung doesn’t answer, only moves Dayoung’s face closer to the fan. “Fuck. I’ll clean your bedroom for a week. No, for a whole month. Just let me go. Please!

Yeonjung, still unsatisfied with the punishment, is about to make Dayoung promise to wash her dishes too when the door to their shop opens again, and this time, Yeonjung completely melts at the sight in front of her. Dawon is wearing a lilac trench coat that’s a few sizes too big for her body, a tote bag full of books hanging from her shoulder and a bunch of snowdrops under her arms, probably the ones she’s going to use on the new potions she’s been working on.

“Hey, I was wondering if one of you could— oh,” Dawon stares at Dayoung, then at Jiyeon, Luda, and finally lets her gaze fall over Yeonjung. She flashes her an apologetic smile as she asks, “Is now not a good time?”

It is always a good time for you, Yeonjung thinks as she tries her best not to yelp over how adorable Dawon looks like that, but she bites her tongue and, instead, she chooses to says, “Oh no, don’t mind, um, this,” she gestures vaguely to Dayoung as she slowly starts to put the girl down. Then she completely ignores the fact that Dayoung is using her powers to get inside her head and call her every bad name under the sun to focus on Dawon, “What do you need, unnie?”

“Do you still have those books about healing potions? I searched for something similar through the entire town but couldn’t find anything,” Dawon laments, using her chin to point towards her bag, “except for a few about flower potions. But they’re all old, and I have to return them by tomorrow.”

“Yeonjung-ah.”

“I said no.”

“Please!”

“No.”

“Pretty please?”

“No.”

“I’m begging, please—

“No, Dayoung!” Yeonjung screams, finally running out of patience after minutes of non-stop arguing. “I’m not going to take a picture for you to send to your horny crush or whatever the fuck you said.”

“Her name is Gahyeon, you know,” Dayoung huffs, runs her hands through her hair. Yeonjung rolls her eyes. “What am I gonna do then. Should I ask Yeoreumie—”

“She’ll say no, too.”

“I need better friends,” Dayoung laments, throwing herself face-down on the couch. “Friends that actually care about me and help me get some.”

Yeonjung tries to ignore her—which would be easy considering she has a PhD in ignoring Im Dayoung’s dramatic ass—but Dayoung keeps complaining. See, usually she’ll whine for a while, pout when she knows her target is staring, then she’ll get bored out of her mind and find someone else to bother—that someone being, more often than not, Sojung, bless her poor soul.

But she keeps going this time, blurting out complaint after complaint after complaint. It’s driving Yeonjung insane.

“And when you’re old and miserable and I’m still famous and gorgeous, I’ll refuse to help you, too. Then you, Yoo Yeonjung, will spent the rest of your sad life regretting this day forever—”

Yeonjung grabs the cushion behind her and throws it straight into Dayoung’s face. “I’ll take your stupid picture if you shut the fuck up.”

“Thank yo—”

“No,” Yeonjung holds a warning finger up, stopping Dayoung. “I don’t want to hear a single word.”

Dayoung nods and pretends to zip her lips. Yeonjung shakes her head and sighs, not believing she is actually going to do this. Sure, yeah, she knows Lee Gahyeon is hot because anyone with a pair of working eyes can see that, but Jesus fucking Christ, she can’t fathom why Dayoung is acting like she hasn’t felt the touch of another woman for a century—which, considering how popular and confident she is, couldn’t be further from the truth.

it's not hard to come to the conclusion that lee luda is, undoubtedly, a rational person. i think that's one of the first things you come to learn about her when you get into wjsn, because while she might have the cutest face in the world, her tongue and the way her brain works on the other hand are... interesting, to say the least. she has a no bullshit attitude and is always very honest about what she thinks. now, let's take a look on why i think she's an intp:

tutor luda
i really like luda's tutor segment and i want to start with this one because you can see her using all of her functions here. right from the start you can see the members talking about how she helps them solve their problems and is super smart, then as soon as she learns what she has to teach she starts preparing herself for it. she's a bit taken aback when she finds out she's going to teach math because according to her it's her "enemy", but she still had to get good at it because since she wanted to major in science when she was in high school.

mc: she's looking for a textbook at a bookstore?
eunseo: yes!
mc: amazing.
eunseo: we're preparing for our next comeback at the moment, but she's more focused on studying.

she looks so happy and excited when she got a question right T_T my baby... even though wjsn are preparing for a comeback she was more focused on going through textbooks/online courses to make sure she was prepared to teach someone, and here's where i want to start analyzing her mbti. one thing about intps is that they would rather DIE than to be perceived as incompetent at something that has to do with their intellect, so she puts her all into studying, goes through multiple sources (the textbooks and the online courses) and writes everything down so she can understand it better. there's our Ti-Ne-Si.

the Fe (along with a bit of Si) kicks in when she starts talking to the girls she's tutoring. intps are not as empathetic as other Fe users (enfjs, esfjs, infjs, isfjs) because it's an inferior function rather than one they like to/tend to use all the time, but it's still there. she sees the scribbles in one of the students' textbooks and she asks if she's going through a hardship at the moment. then, after the girl explains what's going on, luda talks about how she went through the same thing and offers her a solution to the problem. i really recommend watching at least this part, you can see how comforting people isn't luda's strongest suit but since she knows this is someone who looks up to her + she went through the same thing in the past she still tries, even if in a more rational/direct way, and that's pure inf Fe.

sharp tongue
intps are known for being blunt beings. they usually see their inf Fe as their biggest weakness and tend to ignore it, which makes them come out as "too harsh" or "too honest" but tbh if you're not someone they especially care about, they don't give a fuck if you think they're being mean or not LMAO. not that they're actively trying to come out as mean or anything, they're just incredibly rational and like to work with facts rather than sugarcoating things, which other people might not take lightly. some iconic lee luda Ti dom moments:
other intps in kpop:other Ti doms in kpop (istps):
i honestly don't get how she got a isfj result in 16p. that website needs to be taken away from kpop idols asap because it's not a good source at all. the amount of stupid results i've seen from this website are just... yeah. now, let's move on to the love of my life!

yoo yeonjung 🐻

dob: 03/08/1999
zodiac sign: leo
type she got on 16p: estp/istp
type i think she is: entp

entp functions:
Ne > Ti > Fe > Si
+ dominant Ne: extroverted intuition
+ auxiliary Ti: introverted thinking
+ tertiary Fe: extroverted feeling
+ inferior Si: introverted sensing

everyone get ouf of my way because now it's my time to shine! anyway, i personally think yeonjung's 16p results are not as atrocious as luda's. estps and istps both have high Ti, and for that reason i did consider estp as a possible mbti for yeonjung for a while. but as i started to analyze her personality through focused mbti lenses, i quickly started to notice some pretty obvious Ne-Ti patterns. here's some of them:

→ insane amount of brainpower
one thing about this girl is that if she wants something, she is going to get it. she wants to learn something? she will. she wants to become good at something? she will. she wants to become BETTER than she already was? you better believe she will. i watched some videos on entps before making this post, and two things in particular stood out to me when i was watching this one: "the first thing to know about an entp is that we're probably already bored." + "have you ever watched the marvel movie avengers? he (iron man) basically learned thermogenics overnight. yeah, we kind of do that." this immediately reminded me of how yeonjung dropped out of her japanese class because she was bored and decided to learn it by herself. and she succeeded, because she's good like that (see here and here).

she’s a former sm trainee, but not a lot of people know that she got accepted for her dancing skills rather than her vocals. "while she was a fantastic dancer, she felt that her singing skills lacked compared to other vocalists at the label, so she spent her time focusing on improving her singing abilities" and now she sings Like That... are we kidding. this girl scares the shit out of me but in a good way. i'd also like to point out that yeonjung got accepted into university before she graduated high school and without taking a an university entrance test + "why did you choose musical theater to study in university?" "i want to perform in a musical in the future, so i chose that major to prepare first" and now she's in lizzie and getting a lot of praise even though it's her first musical (bonus).

entps are known as the visionaries of the mbti. they can get bored easily, sure, but they know exactly what needs to get done in order to get their desired outcome, and i think it's pretty obvious that yeonjung is like that too. i recommend reading this thread for more insane Ne-Ti yeonjungisms.

devil's advocate
one of the first things i learned about entps is that they LOVE to argue. they have a good amount of knowledge on a variety of topics, which makes it easier for them to prove their point. but if they don't they will bullshit their way into a convincing argument anyway. in the show i linked, it's said that yeonjung, dayoung and soobin (who i think is also a Ne dom! but an enfp instead) are the members who will argue until the end, and that makes perfect sense to me. you can see how excited yeonjung gets when she finds a way to make the other two "freeze" after she presents a new argument and she manages to keep it up until the end. my favorite part is: dayoung: "nowadays, people add meat to their cold noodles" yeonjung: "if you look at it the other way, people are adding cold noodles to their meat nowadays" like can you even argue with that logic... she's right! soobin and dayoung are constantly like "girl help we can't let her eat us up like this!!!!" it's really funny and impressive. (here's part two of the video)

→ scatterbrained
Ne doms suffer from serious can't shut up disease and forgetfulness (inf Si). it can get hard for other people to keep track of what they're saying because their brains come up with a million ideas and fly into different directions every three seconds. they, quite literally, just be saying anything. they can't help it. let's take a look at some of the examples of these two traits that i've gathered:
other entps in kpop:other Ne doms in kpop (enfps):
the day people stop seeing yeonjung as just "uwu sunshine maknae" and "wow vocals" is the day i'll know peace. as you can see from what i've gathered here she's insanely smart and also one of the funniest/snarkiest members of the group, which doesn't get mentioned a lot. i wish people paid more attention to those sides of her personality as well.

🐹🐻

comparing the intp (luda) to the entp (yeonjung)
  • i'd say yeonjung gets bored easier than luda (Ne > Ti + inferior Si). while introverted sensing isn't intp's biggest strength either, having it as a tertiary function rather than a inferior one still helps them to be more "orderly/focused" than entps. (here's an example)
  • luda is better at "masking what she's thinking/feeling" with a forced laugh or by simply keeping her thoughts to herself. yeonjung, on the other hand, has a harder time keeping her "harsher" opinions to herself, and when she does it still shows on her face. i remember reading somewhere that one of the core differences between an entp and an intp is that the entp won't hesitate to say it as it is to your face, while intps tend to be more cautious even though they're probably thinking the same thing as the entp.
  • they're both members you'd like to have on your team during variety show games. yeonjung is good at coming up with solutions for things on the spot, incredibly witty and good at convincing people to do what she wants or believe what she's saying (tertiary extroverted feeling over luda's inferior extroverted feeling). luda is good at guessing and seeing patterns that the others don't. (here's an example | luda: i got them all right. seola: i think the fact that luda got everything right is more scary.")
  • "i'm envious and want to be like unnie as your thoughts are ideal and realistic. unnie who's a jjoggomi physically but not mentally, you're cool, so cool~" ♥

well, i hope this was a good read and that i managed to convince at least one person of their types. i'm always open to other views, though! trying to type kpop idols can be very exhausting, but that might be just me because analyzing people's behaviors + trying to explain my thoughts in a way that is understandable to others is NOT my passion! anyway, if you made it this far, thanks for reading :)
pantomimes: (hyunjung)

seola
and exy are members of the south-korean girl group wjsn. they debuted in february 25, 2016 under starship entertainment. they're part of wjsn's unnie line— exy being the leader and seola the oldest overall. in this prime i'll be diving into their dynamic + talking about some of my favorite moments of them together. they're my favorite kpop ship of all time and i'm doing this with all the love i have in my heart, so i really hope you guys enjoy it. let's get into it!

🐱🦁
🐱 kim hyunjung (seola)
birthday: december 24, 1994
hometown: seoul
zodiac sign: capricorn
mbti: infp
height: 1,65

hyunjung is, without a doubt, the most introverted member in wjsn. she has an older sister, but in wjsn she's the oldest member and also the only 1994 liner in the group. she's the daughter of a poet and it turns out that when she was younger she wanted to be one too, which i find extremely endearing. she's known for being very polite, classy and collected, but she's also known for being wjsn's resident awkward member that used to has no other idol friends other than wjsn. one thing i've noticed is that she is a very stereotypical infp— but it's not that obvious at first glance. hyunjung is one of the three members in wjsn that have worked on music for the group, the most recent one being new me which is insanely good, an instant classic wjsn song and a fan favorite. it's not very relevant but it's fun to mention she's very popular between women, and thanks to that she ended up ranking 2nd place on the korean wlws favorite female idols list of 2021.

🦁 chu sojung (exy)
birthday: november 6, 1995
hometown: busan
zodiac sign: scorpio
mbti: esfp
height: 1,67

sojung is wjsn's leader and the third oldest member, but she's definitely the one that gets picked on/made fun of by the other girls the most. she's very clumsy, goes viral every other week (1, 2, 3) for saying/doing the silliest things ever and has starred in a lot of unbelievable wjsn stories (1, 2) but i'm whipped i find all of those things painfully endearing and charming. she's the main rapper and just like hyunjung she has worked on multiple wjsn tracks, her name showing up in the rap writing for most of wjsn's songs + has written songs for other groups. she has a bunch of idol friends, most of them 95 liners like herself. sojung has an habit of trying her best to help fans with their worries and problems (1, 2) and it's adorable. she's someone who can watch scary/gross things like it's nothing, but is also a crybaby and members often make fun of her for it. all in all, she's my favorite kpop leader, rapper and idol overall.

2JUNG IN FANDOM

english ship name: 2jung/exseol
korean ship name: 섫엑/엑섫/섫엓/엓섫/설엑/엑설
ao3 ranking: #3 kim hyunjung | seola/chu sojung | exy

2jung is one of the "original (?) ships" in wjsn. from what i remember from their debut days, the most popular ships used to be boxuan, eunxiao, ludawon, dareum and 2jung. the early 2jung narrative in fandom/fics at that time was "sojung is in love with her best friend hyunjung who's already in love with soobin and sojung suffers" etc etc, and even though it made sense because seolbin are literally obsessed with each other, it's safe to say that this headcanon isn't as popular as it was before. and i think the reason for that is the fact that, as the years went by, we started to learn more and more interesting things about their story before they were members of wjsn...
PRE-DEBUT

training period:
🐱: 10 years
🦁: 8 years

🐱🦁 PRE-DEBUT TIMELINE:
2005~2006: seola becomes a trainee
2007~2008: exy becomes a trainee
2008~2009 (?): seola and exy meet each other for the first time in another agency. the birth of "viva girls"
2009~2010 (?): viva girls never debut, seola and exy leave the other agency and join starship
2016: seola and exy make their debut in wjsn

i'm sorry for the not very accurate timeline, but i couldn't find a video or tweet where they say when exactly they became trainees. we only know their training period and the order the members joined starship so i'm sorry for any possible mistakes in that part ;_;. moving on, it's a very well known "pre-debut wjsn lore" that 2jung met each other way before wjsn was a thing. sojung was in the first grade of middle school when she became a trainee in the same agency as hyunjung, so they were around 14~15 years old at the time. in a variety show in 2017, during i wish era, they said:
exy: i first met seola unnie when i was in grade 1 in middle school, there was a recording studio and when i opened the door there was a doll, i'm not lying.
seola: i'm a doll, everyone.
exy: i thought that "ah, there's a lot of people in seoul who look like that. i thought this is what seoul unnies are like"
seola: she (exy) was really cute like a baby, and she also dressed prettily, like a fashionista.

i can't talk about pre-debut 2jung without mentioning this iconic video of the two of them together in the other agency. the line-up of viva girls consisted of seola, exy and other girls who would eventually debut in other groups too— like nine muses' kyungri, dalshabet's woohee, hello venus' lime, stellar's hyoeun and a few others.

now, my favorite part about pre-debut 2jung is the fact that these two lived together for a month back in the days (see here and here). i'm not sure how these things work in korea, but apparently sojung lived in seoul by herself when she was a trainee even though she was still in middle school. in a vlive, sojung talked about those days:
"when i was in middle school... middle school to sophomore year, before i came into starship, i lived by myself in seoul (...) it wasn't just sometimes, but seola unnie came to my house every day. we ate delicious things, watched tv... and we always spent time together. unnie sometimes... since she was a teenager, whenever she fought with her mom, she came to my house without any notice. then i would go to the station and hold the luggage together, we would bring her luggage together and unpack them. [seola] "i am going to stay here for a while, i can't go back home. sojung-ah, take me for the time being" [exy] "yes, sounds good to me". then, she would go home in about three days (...) yes, my house was her second home. my house was really small, it was only one room, but we did a lot of things there together. we always bought toast, made it at night and ate them. there were a lot of funny moments, i think it was a lot of fun. i have a lot of thoughts about wanting to go back to that time.
recently, hyunjung gave us some more cute information about that time on universe:
i've liked 2jung for a long time, but i have to admit that when i first learned about this story i became even more obsessed with them. i believe that the appeal about 2jung as a ship is that they know each other since forever, lived together, grew up together and know each other so well. i've said this a thousand times, but it blows my mind how they went from being the maknaes in viva girls to the leader and oldest member in wjsn. they might not be the most "affectionate/fanservice-friendly" ship ever (i'll get into this later) but what makes them a good ship, in my opinion, is that they have a story that no one else has.

DEBUT ERA

there aren't that many important 2jung moments during momomo, however!!! one of the 2jung moments i think about the most happened during their 160403 fansign in busan, sojung's hometown. you can see here on 0:19 the moment hyunjung calls sojung and to let her know that her family is there, and sojung immediately runs to where they are so she can talk to them. in that same video, on 0:43, you can see that hyunjung is crying and the manager + yeoreum are comforting her. in this other video you can see on 18:01 that sojung starts crying too and the members are all around her and comforting her.

a while after the fansign ended, wjsn went on vlive and the two of them talked about what happened.
soobin: she cried when she saw her mom~
wjsn: she cried~
exy: our fans might've been surprised because i started crying suddenly... actually, my mom was there. i was really holding back and... can i say this? but seola unnie was crying a lot...
soobin: seola unnie cried too~
seola: i've known exy for a long time, and i know her mom really well and i could see all her worries in her eyes...
exy: so seeing seola unnie cry made me cry too.
not very relevant, but i'd also like to mention that they were constantly paired up together in their mvs/photoshoots in 2016~2017, and were together in sweet unit with soobin during their debut.

EXSEOL WUJUKEBOX

exseol wujukebox is a vlive segment that started in 2016. there were a few guests here and there, but most of these vlives are just sojung and hyunjung sitting together to recommend songs to the fans and listen to their concerns. they often share a lot of stories about themselves or the other members too, which makes the whole thing even more entertaining. 2jung wouldn't be 2jung we know without these vlives.

so far there are 11 episodes of exseol wujukebox, and i think that during these vlives is when we can see 2jung's dynamic at its best. sojung has mentioned before that her and hyunjung have the same taste in music and that becomes clear once you stop and watch an episode of exseol wujukebox. now, i'll talk about some of my favorite exseol wujukebox moments!

[엑시/설아] 엑떨의 우쥬크박스 🎧 Ep.03

i've watched this episode an embarrassing amount of times through the years because... it's iconic. it's one hour of hyunjung being a little shit to sojung + special guests yeoreum and eunseo + good music + pre-debut lore + contrasting personalities + 2jung laughing and being loud together + the birth of 2jung iu - rain drop which is so personal to me. here's a few of my favorite parts of this vlive:
🕒 07:39
seola: i'm not a person who likes to play songs about rain when it rains, but i'd like to recommend a song to hear on a rainy days. when it rains... is it an old song? iu sunbaenim's rain drop
exy: that's not an old song... we played a lot more old songs
seola: when it rains... this song is perfect when you hold an umbrella on the way to meet your friend or to go somewhere else. this song makes you feel sentimental. if you hear this song when it rains you will be sentimental like me.
like i said 2jung rain drop is so personal TO ME... this is one of my favorite iu songs of all time and ever since they sang it together in this episode i've associated this song to 2jung, which only made me love it even more. here is seola singing rain drop again.
🕒 06:21
seola: don't you like romance movies?
exy: i like horror movies
seola: i like romance movies
🕒 35:39
exy
: to calm down this hamster... give her sunflower seeds
seola: take the hamster out and kiss her
i'm sorry i'm just obsessed with their contrast in these two parts? the thing i said earlier about hyunjung being an stereotypical infp... YEAH. sojung being rational and giving the fan actual advice vs hyunjung being all <3 take the hamster out and kiss her <3 i want to cry.
🕒 31:52
seola: "you may get sick and tired of my face that you see everyday"
exy: [laughs]
seola: sick and tired of seeing...
exy: but we won't
seola: we don't feel this way
exy: because we talk a lot
🕒 47:34
comment: "please recommend your favorite snsd song"
exy
: i don't know if you may remember this, but on a holiday we went to a karaoke room together to practice snsd's star star star
exy: we divided the parts holding our mics...
exy: don't you remember that we sang line by line?
🕒 30:46
exy
: i think it's important to have conversations regardless of it's your family or friends
seola: right. if you can't say it in person, even though people don't write letters anymore, write one...
exy: to express how you feel
seola: right
🕒 37:38
exy: that's jinusean's song. i used to dance to that song
seola: you played that song for me
also shout out to 36:07 because it's funny as hell. i love some good "gay people can't do math" representation <3

[엑시 설아] 엑떨의 우쥬크박스🎧 Ep.05
🕒 35:39
seola
: exy was short a long time ago. please tell about when you were short.
exy: i'm really not exaggerating, up until i went to high school i was really short (...) when i would go audition to agencies, something was always said about my height. but when i went to high school i suddenly shot up.
i just find it cute how at some point sojung was way smaller than hyunjung but now they're around the same height, sojung being taller than her by a few cms according to their profile.
🕒 33:58
comment: "please recommend a good song to listen to when i get lonely or go watch a movie alone"
exy
: what i want to say to this person is, just because you're going alone to watch a movie, don't kill your own vibe. i go around watching movies alone well.
seola: and after she watches it on her own, she keeps pressuring us. one time she sent a group message and she kept telling us that we must watch it. she told dayoung she must watch and she confirms to see if she did watch.
exy: when i do have a friend or a person that i can watch with, i do watch with them. but there are times i intentionally go on my own. it helps me focus better. it's much better. i also eat well by myself, i eat solo often.
seola: me too.
exy: that's what i do. i eat solo a lot recently.
seola: is there any particular reason to have to do something together? we did ride our bicycles and watch a movie together (recently).
exy: that's right. we watched "believer"
this entire conversation has me on a chokehold. "is there any particular reason to have to do something together?" + hyunjung immediately adding that they went out with their bikes and watched a movie together is just... let's just say it's something i think about very often.

[엑시/설아] 엑떨의 우쥬크박스🎧 Ep.07

🕒 10:50
exy: you know what? summers will be five months long starting in 2050.
seola: it's going to get longer?
exy: yes.
seola: in 2050, we'll be...
exy: how old we will be then?
seola: don't think about that.
🕒 11:17
seola: we could be farmers. my dream is to become a farmer.
exy: ... ah really?
seola: if i become a farmer you should visit my fields.
exy: ... i don't think you'll be good at it. i think you'll ruin the fields if you become a farmer.
seola: i'm thinking of planting potatoes, corn, cabbage and things like that.
exy: [laughs] i had no idea you had dreams of becoming a farmer.
seola: i'm going to take dayoung with me.
exy: [laughs]
seola: i'll take dayoung and i'll farm with eunseo on one side and dayoung on the other.
exy: that's a really nice image.
seola: i'll cheer for dayoung and eunseo as they work.
🕒 24:08
seola: you should come with me when i run my farm.
exy: ... will you give me a stipend for living expenses?
seola: of course.
exy: you'll give me a house to stay in?
seola: of course. i'll make a lot of money before i go. don't worry about it.
exy: then i'll go with you.
this episode is so unhinged and so damn funny. every time i think about "summers will be five months long in 2050" and the "we could become farmers" talk i start cracking up because??? you gotta love the way their brains work. and even though it's funny i think it's adorable how they're just casually talking about the future + how they'll still be together even when they're old ladies in a farm. also i'm obsessed with their little red velvet - power up dance on 30:27 because it's so funny and because i love seeing them being idiots together.

[엑시 설아] 엑떨의 우쥬크박스🎧 Ep.10
🕒 08:14
comment: "i have a crush, but he only sees me as a friend. he said he doesn't think he'll ever feel any other way about me"
seola: as you live life, the things you think won't happen end up happening. the things that seem wrong end up becoming right. i haven't lived a long life, but... if you just stay by his side... i think it's right to keep planting those feelings of love into him a little at a time.
exy: [laughs] what are you talking about?
seola: don't just think it's not going to happen. don't give him too much burden though. just be by his side as a friend. and after you make an effort for a long time, you never know what will happen. a person's feelings change every day.
exy: i think of it like this. it might be worse if you cross the line with a friend. don't you think so?
seola: what does that mean?
exy: there's this, you want to keep a really good person close to you as a friend. if you become lovers, one day... well it's not 100%. it doesn't happen this way to everyone, but there's a high chance that it won't work out one day. so if you're certain that this is a precious and good person for you, then it's nice to keep him close for a long time as a friend... of course, after you've done all that you can! and if it still doesn't work out... i hope you don't feel too heartbroken. that's all i can say.
i can't recommend watching this episode/this specific moment enough. i really love their different views on unrequited love + their talk about whether you should "hope for" or "chase" a romantic relationship with someone or if it's better to just keep this precious person close to you as a friend. the contrast between hyunjung having an optimistic mindset "a person's feelings change every day" "keep planting those feelings of love into him a little at a time" vs sojung's mind going straight into the worst case scenario "there's a high chance that it won't work out one day" is... a lot to think about.

another moment from ep 10 that i love is when they're trying to find the old french song hyunjung had in her cyworld (an old korean social media) page, and their reaction when a fan finds the song for them is priceless. this is yet another moment that makes me think about how long they've been together... ;_;

(i am fond of them)

ARTISTS

one of the many things i love about 2jung is how they're two of the three members that have worked on music for wjsn and the fact that they respect each other a lot as artists. during the unnatural album recording behind the scenes uzzu tape, sojung said:
exy: my comments about the song (new me) is that it's a song that has seola unnie's color. so, whoever hears this song will go "oh, this is from seola", that sort of feeling? it has her personal favorite genre, city pop. it's also a bit electronic? it's a good song (...) and just like the title, it expresses the upgraded "me" who broke the existing frame. unnie is directing inside herself.
another thing i'm obsessed with is how 2jung's lyrics/compositions have different vibes that are reflections of their personalities, but they still fit perfectly into wjsn's discography. here's some of my favorite lyrics written by hyunjung and sojung:
🎵 new me | lyrics: seola, composer: seola
Alright, everyone is looking at me
It gives me goosebumps
The light that changes little by little
The color that gets darker, it’s too fast, I get dizzy
🎵 yalla | lyrics: exy, composer: exy
Spread like a mеlody, is you, you like poison
That’s dope, it will bloom again, a flower with thorns
A piеce that fits in perfect harmony
I like the way it hurts, ah
You are drawn to me
🎵 our garden | lyrics: seola, composer: seola
Bright lights came down and took me quietly
I feel this familiar excitement
A small flower came and kissed both my cheeks
It turned red, yeah
🎵 tra-la | lyrics: exy, composer: exy
I want to reach that high, farther in the air
The cold wind is stroking my head, I’m all ears
Wake in the dawn
Fill the long night with your eyes
My heart is thumping and feels like it’s gonna fall
🎵 star | rap lyrics: exy
The stars fall down as much as my heart
Draw you and draw you again, closing my eyes when it's clear
A look that resembles a dazzling star
Whenever I think I'm alone, you shine even in those days
Remember? Always, by my side
Please tell me, when we hold hands tenderly and I'm on your giving shoulder
not to #brag about my ultimate group all of a sudden in the middle of a 2jung post, but these are just some of wjsn's amazing lyrics and songs. if you're reading this and somehow is not an ujung/isn't familiar with wjsn's music, i recommend checking out [profile] moon_cubed's wjsn music guide chart on twitter. i promise you will not regret it!

FRIENDS FOR LIFE, EACH OTHER'S RIDE OR DIE

Q. who knows you better than anyone else?
seola
: exy ♡
Q. you've been friends with seola unnie for ten years, what do you think of your friendship?
exy
: i think we'll still be seeing each other when we become grandmas...
wjsn ego: off persona: on rolling paper
seola
to exy: exy, sojungie, rapper ♡ don't worry, don't be anxious, don't hesitate and live happily and positively ♡ even when we're grandmothers, let's continue to talk and gossip while peeling garlic..♡
exy to seola: seola ♡ pink hair goddess the idol one top that fits pink hair the most :) ♡ please continue to listen to my concers in the future too ㅋㅋㅋ !!

like i mentioned in the beginning of this post, 2jung aren't the best when it comes to skinship and don't have a lot of "fanservice" moments, which are things that often grab people's interest and draw them into a ship. but what makes me and other people like 2jung so much is the fact that they are each other's best friends, have been for over a decade, and that's something you can't erase. i look at 2jung and think this is what two people who have been through everything together are like. they're not the type to go around saying sweet things, but it's obvious that they mean the world to each other. they know that they can be themselves when they're together. it's been so long, but they want to stay in each other's lives forever. they're each other's home.

FINAL THOUGHTS

WHEW i can't believe i'm done with this post after three days ;_; but i really hope that this was an enjoyable read! i ult both sojung and hyunjung and like i mentioned in the beginning 2jung are my favorite kpop duo ever, so i couldn't be happier to have finally poured all the love i have for them into one single post. i'd also like to mention that i was heavily inspired by [personal profile] itotoro's heechu primer and [personal profile] girlrock's why sookai post, you should definitely check these posts if you're into loona or txt. thank you so much for reading! ^^

hi! today i'm gonna try to rank my top 5 favorite ships in wjsn and as someone who has always been a big multi-shipper this is going to be hard as hell but... oh well. please keep in mind that these are just my favorites and that if a ship is not in my top five it doesn't mean i don't like it. tbh this ranking is only valid for now (may 11 2021) because i'm insane and get obsessed with a different wjsn ship every week... anyways. let's do this!
